“We see families, businesses, churches and other types of organizations consistently at our shows. The family-friendly nature of our show opens up our market to a very diverse demographic. “Overall the community has really embraced us. “We’ve learned a lot this first year as to the trends of this area,” Faillaci says. Nevertheless, he’s coming up on his one-year anniversary – Faillaci opened the doors last July 15 after two years of planning. He’s proud to be a co-owner of MaDcap Theater (other family members pooled their money with Faillaci to get the theater going), and he says that he wishes he had done better in those business classes. When he moved back to Colorado, he joined Denver-based Impulse Theater and put on 750 shows worth of improvisational experience. While in California, he says he discovered his love for improvisational comedy in small Hollywood theaters. It becomes an overall less expensive night for the consumer,” he says.Īfter CSU, Faillaci learned a lot about the smaller theaters in Los Angeles where he studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. “We thought if we could provide quality entertainment we would become a local destination, an alternative to downtown entertainment with no parking hassles or payment for parking. He says he believed people didn’t necessarily want to go downtown all the time for entertainment. ![]() “Wits End (a comedy house across from the Westminster Mall) has been around for many years.” “People here have demonstrated that they support local entertainment in a big way,” he says. Now he’s combined the two disciplines into one venture in Westminster, the MaDcap Theater – a performance house that serves up comedic improvisation.įaillaci, who grew up in Westminster, says he knew this type of idea would go over well in the area. But this is a fun place for families, but also for a night out with friends or a date if you find yourself near the Westminster Promenade.WESTMINSTER -Russ Faillaci says he was much better in acting classes than he was in business classes while at Colorado State University. Second moral of the story? I don’t hate kids. I’m sure nothing happened to it, but it surely makes me wonder… what if they did do something to it? Moral of the story? No outside food or drink. I tried to hide it from the women at the door, but they snatched it out of my hand and put it in their refrigerator. That was my plan, but time got away from us. ![]() Just a tip… if you go out to eat beforehand and you have a box of leftovers, make sure you have time to go put it in the car. Shout out a suggestion if you can, (shut up, damn children) and you’ll help make the show exciting for yourself. But it wasn’t too bad, and I still had a good time. At least when I was there, the children’s shrill voices echoed in my ear, temporarily deafening me, and holding me back from shouting out some suggestions. You would think that few kids would be at the 9: 30 show, and if they are there, then they’ll be sleepy and semi-quiet. There are two shows a night, one at 7: 00, and one at 9: 30. These guys got it, and most of them are locally born and/or raised, with impressive training. You have to be quick to do improv (as I learned in my 7 th grade acting class. Keeping it clean is definitely a challenge, but the performers execute it well. The actors are funny, their timing is always «on.» Different show every time, so you could go to every show if you wanted to and see something new (mostly). That’s not true! But I was talked into coming here, and I had a pretty good time. I admit, it made me sound as if all I like is vulgar, adult-themed comedy. ![]() I’m all for a night of comedy however, I wasn’t sure what to expect when coming here because I looked on Madcap’s website and saw a term that immediately turned me off… family friendly? And I made a comment to the person I went with about this fact. No small task! Will likely go back again sometime and will take the older kids to enjoy with us. Great cast, great enthusiasm, excellent execution on the improv. That all said, the actors were fantastic and I laughed a ton. ![]() Impulse Theater definitely does right bu requiring a drink so as to keep the crowd adult. I have four kids, but when I am on a date night with the wife and looking for really great improv, I am not looking to sit next to a 16 year who won’t hold his personal gas problems to himself. We are # 2 in the country for best beer city and all I can choose from is Coors, Bud and Fat Tire? Not a single decent food option. The food and drink selection is really sub par, especially for Denver. I really enjoyed the experience, but here’s why I give it three stars, not more. Heard nothing but great things, so expectations quite high. It’s taken me way too long to try this place, as I have lived here 6 years.
